Fees and Payments
Registration Fees: For all ongoing classes, there is a non-refundable registration fee of $25. Payment of this fee is sufficient to reserve a seat in any full-year or half-year class when submitted with a completed registration form. The fee is used to offset ongoing expenses related to all students in all classes including the purchase of costume and prop pieces, scene study material, scripts, subscriptions to royalty-free play publications, etc. Workshop Fees: All classes with a limited length are considered workshops. To reserve a spot in any workshop full payment must be remitted along with a completed registration form. All workshop payments are indicated as “TOTAL” payments as there are no registration fees or any other added charges. Because seats are limited and registration is closed once the workshop class begins, payments are non-refundable. We accept cash and checks only. Class Fees: For full-year and half-year classes, tuition is based on monthly payments. Invoices will not be given to students or mailed home. It is expected that students will remit payment at the first class meeting of each month. Payments can be made in cash, which should be handed to the teacher, or check, which should be put in the payment mailbox inside the studio. Anyone wishing to make payment in full at the start of the term will be given a 5% discount. Important notes:
Registering Class commitment: For all classes for which a student pays by the month, the student’s commitment to remain in the class is also by the month. While it is hoped and expected that a student will remain in a class for the entire session, there is no contract to do so. If circumstances arise that necessitate a student’s withdrawal, that student has no further financial obligation beyond the payment for the month in which the student participated in his/her final class. Attendance Punctual and regular attendance is expected of all students. Tardiness is disruptive to the entire class, and excessive absences hinder a student’s ability to progress effectively, while also negatively impacting a student’s classmates, particularly during scene studies. Obviously some absences will be unavoidable. In these cases, students are strongly encouraged to make up absences by attending another class section. This is a wonderful opportunity to see what other classes and/or other teachers have to offer. Parents of school-aged students are not permitted to observe classes except by invitation. We believe that a closed classroom is vital to creating and maintaining a safe and trusting environment where students feel free to take risks with one another. Students new to the studio may attend one class free of charge to get a clear sense of what Play On! Acting Studio classes are all about. Performances and End-of-Year Showcase
There are various opportunities throughout the year for
students to perform, including in-studio “shares” to which guests are
invited; competitions, particularly for Improv students; traveling to an
off-studio site; and the End-of-Year Showcase,
which occurs in early
June. Studio Closings and Weather Cancellations While Play On! follows a “school calendar,” closing for a week in December, February, and April, and on other major school holidays, adult classes often run on days when public schools are closed. Please address any questions regarding holiday closings to the appropriate Teaching Artist. You can also check the “Studio Bulletin” section of the web site and/or call the studio for information. If there is a question regarding cancellation due to inclement weather, please call the studio at 677-0801 or visit the “Studio Bulletin” section of the web site for up-to-date information. Studio Bulletin Students and parents should check this area of the web site often to verify holiday and weather closings, view workshop announcements, and get performance information. Upcoming classes and special event information will also be posted here.
